Apples

These last two weeks are going to be all about getting this ported over to the IOS system. Creating apps is hard work, especially for a novice like me, and just getting something basic to work on anyone’s phone is a process. I have done a lot of research to populate the app with information but before I do that to finish up, I need to make sure that it works on the two main operating systems guests will have.

I have done the entire thing on my phone which is an android but the same issue has persisted for me with regards to the apple products and that is, I don’t have one. You can pay $99 a year for the apple developer suite but I don’t want to have to pay my own money for this and the museum doesn’t have it in the budget at this time, so I am  going to just try to blindly port it over and let the museum staff who have the iphones use it and tell me what is broken. This of course is a very inefficient way to do it for obvious reasons but it’s the only free option available.

My hope is that I can get it running enough to present at the showcase and by the end of the official internship so that they can make room for the developer app in the budget or, even better, get help from the county IT department. By that time it will be out of my hands, the county tends to take over, but I am ok with that because I will have built the foundation and the information in the app. This next week I will be testing it and crafting the museum experiences, I might not get all 17 or so but I can get a few done for proof of concept. I am still a volunteer for the history center so I will continue to work on the app until its ready for the big unveiling for the public.

I am blessed with the ability to work on my own and at my own pace so I haven’t become stressed or burned out from the process. Every week there has been a problem to solve for and a good idea to incorporate. The issue now is just to get the thing working well enough that the museum finds use in it and wants to continue it.
